Two races inhabit the valley, the Little People and a branch of an ancient Mongolian race; they worship the evil Kraken named Khalk'ru which they summon from another dimension to offer human sacrifice. The inhabitants recognize Langdon as the reincarnation of their long dead hero, Dwayanu. Dwayanu's spirit possesses Langdon and he starts a war with the Little People. "The Moon Pool" deals with an advanced race which has developed within the Earth's core. Eventually their most intelligent members create an offspring. This created entity encompasses both great good and great evil, but it slowly turns away from its creators and towards evil. The entity is called either the Dweller or the Shining One.

This book is available in ePub and PDF format with a single click unlimited downloads. The existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life has been a subject of debate since the dawn of recorded history. The Last Frontier, originally published in German in 1983 and now available in Helen Atkins's sensitive English translation, traces the development of the idea that Earth is not the only planet inhabited by intelligent beings, but that there might be a plurality or even an infinity of "worlds" with human or humanoid life. Focusing on the seventeenth to the twentieth century and taking into account theological, philosophical, scientific, popular, and literary writings from American, British, French, and German sources, Karl S. Guthke demonstrates the continuing importance of this question to the process of human self-definition.

Zeitschrift fuer philosophische Forschung Overall, this is an important contribution to the study of both Aristotle's philosophy and ancient science [] this volume challenges the reader to consider new approaches to seemingly intractable and tedious problems in Aristotelian scholarship. And the best of these papers show indubitably that it is necessary to study the biological works in order to understand Aristotle's methods and concerns. Journal of Hellenistic Studies.

Download Zeus by Arthur Bernard Cook PDF/Ebook Free clicking on the below button will initiate the downloading process of Zeus by Arthur Bernard Cook. This book is available in ePub and PDF format with a single click unlimited downloads. Detailing the mythology behind the Greek god Zeus, this volume also includes information about the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Sculpted in 432 BC by Greek artist Phidias, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia is one of the most recognized Ancient Wonders. Nearly 40 feet (12 meters) tall, the statue occupied half of the width of the temple where it sat. Ancient Greek geographer Strabo once noted in the first century BC that "if Zeus were to stand up, he would unroof the temple." Made of ivory and gold-plated bronze, the statue sat in an intricate throne of cedar inlaid with ivory, gold, ebony and precious gems. In Zeus' right hand, he held a small statue of the goddess of victory, Nike. In his left hand, there was a scepter with an eagle perched on top. It is believed that the Roman Emperor Caligula was the cause of the statue's destruction. According to Roman historian Suetonius, Caligula gave orders that statues of gods that were especially famous, including that of Zeus at Olympia, were to be brought from Greece in order to have their heads removed and a marble head of Caligula put in their place. According to legend, just as workers were moving stones to disassemble the Statue of Zeus, there was a loud moment of laughter, followed by the collapsing of scaffolding and the structure, killing some workers and leaving others to flee for their lives. Until recently, historians and archaeologists debated the time period in which the statue was built. The recent discovery of Phidias' workshop in the 1950s confirms that the temple was completed around the third quarter of the fifth century BC. Today, archaeologists continue to study the techniques Phidias used to construct the temple and the statue, and admirers of Ancient Greece admire the statue's place on the Ancient Wonders list.
